KADDOUSSA DAM

The site of the Kaddoussa dam is located on the Oued Guir in the Province of Errachidia between the ksours of El Gourane in the North and Kaddoussa, hence its name, and more precisely between two mountains Jbel Tamalout and Ighil N'tizi.

The dam was identified, recommended and retained by the integrated water resources development plan carried out by the Guir Ziz Rhéris Water Basin Agency (ABHGZR) to strengthen the mobilization of surface water, especially those of floods on the Oued Guir.

The objective of this project, with a total cost of 650 million MAD, is to improve the resilience to climate change and the sustainability of agricultural development in this region. It consists of setting up irrigation infrastructure for downstream areas, flood protection, drinking water supply and promoting the development of productive and sustainable irrigated agriculture.

Thus, the project is in line not only with the national agricultural strategy, the Green Morocco Plan, but also with the national water strategy and the policies of sustainable development and fight against the effects of climate change promoted by Morocco.
